Before Quest School will admit any child we have to
be sure that we are able to meet that child’s needs and that the child’s admission will be a benefit to the school
as a whole. We therefore apply an extensive admissions process and have the following
admissions criteria:
· All children must have a primary diagnosis of autistic spectrum
disorder.
· All children must be within the age range of 5-14 years. Children
will normally be of an age within 1-2 years of the age range of the children already at the school, so that they will be included
within an appropriate peer group. Priority may be given to children who ‘best fit’ the existing class or group.
· All children must have a Statement of Educational Needs or
be in the process of receiving such a statement.
· All children and parents must attend an initial interview
and assessment prior to being offered a placement within the school.
· Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s learning, to keep abreast
of their child’s developments and to maintain consistency of approach at home.
· The school regrets that it may be unable to admit children
for any medical conditions which staff are unqualified to treat. A doctor’s certificate may be requested prior to admission
to the school.
· The school reserves the right to exclude any child if they
subsequently prove no longer to meet admission criteria.
